Painting With A Broad Brush

Haiku for January 2023

There has only been a smattering of snow so far this year, so I had to use an image from a while back for this. I had two ideas for this month. Eventually, this one won out. I hope I have chosen well!

There is always a purity to the beauty of new fallen snow. Sometimes, the tracks of a rabbit or a bird add to the wonder of it all, but the big boot print of a person ruins it for me — even though they are often my own. I have no patience when the desire to tromp through the woods covered in fresh snow arises. I guess I am showing both my biases and weaknesses here…

For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:

The painting is done;
The artist has signed the work
In winter’s pure white
