Lunar Haiku

I’ve decided to moon you

There hasn’t been much rain lately where I live. Or even cloudy skies. One of the trails I walk is usually quite wet and swampy; it is now overgrown with brush and briars. While that has made finding wildlife to photograph more difficult, it has made seeing objects in the night sky easier. Well, except for the comet that’s supposed to be visible. We’ve looked three different times with no luck. I guess it’s too bright around here.

The moon, however, is a different story. Or poem, in this case. The Hunter’s Moon this year has put on quite a show. While I didn’t have the opportunity to get any pictures when it was completely full, it hadn’t waned much by the time I managed get a shot. Jupiter was also visible. The Jovian moons were, unfortunately, were not. Perhaps there was just a wisp of haze obscuring them. In any event, one moon is enough for me.

I wonder how many poems and stories the moon has inspired. Or how many kisses. I’d like to think I’ve added a few to each count!

The not-quite full moon in the upper right-hand corner of the photo against a black background.

For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:

Romance or wonder;
Lovers and dreamers ponder
Their fate in silence

As an added bonus, here’s a closer image of the moon…
