Haiku For November 2023

Blue skies smiling at me?

The skies this fall seem to have taken on a blue I have not seen in recent times. They are deep and hypnotic. The clouds are also more interesting, both in shape and clarity. This has been my perception, though it may be that I appreciate them more as I age. Then again, perhaps it is all an illusion. With the chilly air flowing in, the smoky haze of summer has left us. It could be that I had merely forgotten the beauty of the skies above me.

No matter; I will enjoy them while I can.

BTW, I didn’t plan to go so hard on the alliteration. That’s what the little voices told me to write…

A photo by K. R. Smith of cirrus clouds in a deep, blue sky. The photo was taken in October 2023 near Dumfries, Virginia, USA.

For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:

Frost faerie feathers
Floating through the autumn sky
Soften the sunlight
