This is the Internet; I post a cat picture now and then.

Before going on, I’d like to thank the following folks who clapped for my December 2023 haiku!

Thank you!

This month I have a deal for you! It’s a two-for-one sale!

The cold weather is upon us, but winter isn’t just snow where I live — though I’ve got that covered, too. The winter sun can come as a warming welcome if the wind is calm and you can find a good spot that catches the rays. For a sleepy cat, a worn, wooden deck works just fine.

A cat lies on a wooden deck in the bright, winter sun. A few fallen leaves are scattered around.

For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:

An old cat asleep,
Warming in the winter sun
Dreaming kitten dreams

And a little later, he came in to make sure we had treats…

As promised, I did not forget the snow (we have had a little bit as of late). I’ll add this one even though the photo was taken in Michigan a while back. It does have a feeling of solitude.

A snowy field stretches to a distant woodline. A large evergreen tree is on the right-hand side of the photo. The sky is overcast and gray. Snow is falling lightly.
