Now for this month’s haiku…

Many have heard the old saw, “April showers bring May flowers.” Of course, it may depend upon where you live as to when those flowers really bloom.

Having been in Texas lately, I can attest that the flowers there have had a head start on the wildflowers of my native region. Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush were, in fact, finishing up their annual bloom. And even though the weather was damp and drizzly, there were still enough showy blossoms around for a good photo — which would lead, in turn, to this haiku!

A patch of bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis), the state flower of Texas, bloom in a field near Round Rock, Texas.

For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:

As a good hat should,
Bluebonnets shed the droplets
From April showers
