Haiku #2 For August 2023
It seems August has caught my attention more so than usual this year. Perhaps it is because I’ve been able to spend a greater amount of time outdoors. While on a run the other day, I saw several large swaths of jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) with their small yellow-orange blooms inviting the bees to dine.
It’s always been one of my favorite plants. Besides its beauty, it is useful. The sap is said to relieve skin irritations and have anti-fungal properties. Plus, it draws the bumblebees and hummingbirds which are fun to watch!
For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:
Tender jewelweed,
The bumblebee’s restaurant,
Open for business
