A photo of the stars overhead on the morning of October 7, 2024. It is the backdrop for the following haiku: Starry, starry night Fades into the early morn; Who looks down on me?
A single red blackgum tree leaf with green leaves in the background. Per the University of Maryland extension website (https://extension.umd.edu/resource/blackgum-sourgum-or-tupelo-tree/), the small, blue-black fruits are consumed by songbirds, woodpeckers, wild turkeys, squirrels, foxes, and bears.
A black cat sits with shadowy foliage behind. His name is Bosco, by the way, although he doesn’t answer to it. Or anything, really.
