Thank you!

I was up early a few days ago. The sky was beginning to lighten, but the stars were still shining brightly. When younger, the morning was my favorite time of the day. Now that I’m older, I’ve noticed the urgency to see the sun rise has faded a bit. When I do, however, it still feels special.

I only had my phone camera available, so the image is not spectacular. The sky certainly was, however! Even though it is now officially autumn here, I believe the three bright stars make up the “summer triangle” of Deneb, Vega and Altair, but the sky wasn’t quite clear enough for my amateur astronomy skills to say for certain. Please let me know in the comments if you have a better/more correct identification!

There’s a lot of ambient light where I took the picture that prevents me from seeing a lot of detail. Still, the sight makes my mind wander into the far-off reaches of space. And while it’s true I’ve been told my mind wanders off even without the stars, I can live with that!

Who knows? Perhaps there’s somebody on a planet orbiting one of these stars, looking up while taking their six-legged pet out for a walk, and wondering if anyone’s looking back!
