Haiku for March 2025

Spring is sprouting

It seems the last of the snows have departed and the birds have begun their mating rituals. We recently released a bluebird we had taken to a wildlife rehabilitator for treatment. I had been injured in some way and unable to fly but was able to make a complete recovery with her help. We hope it found its way back to the rest of the group.

Buds are now popping out on the trees, especially the maples. And the flowers are starting to sprout. Yes, the snowdrops are pushing their way up through the dried leaves.

White snowdrops, a small, white flower that grows from a bulb, rise from the ground which is covered in dried leaves.

As a side note, even though it is the middle of March, I did not spot any leprechauns — or hidden gold — during my brief excursion into the nearby woodlands.

For those using a screen reader, the haiku is:

Pristine snowdrops rise,
A wintry drift of blossoms;
No need to shovel
