Haiku For June 2022

The heat is on

There is a post office I visit now and then. Large magnolia trees grow in the island between the parking area and the main street towering far above the brambles and weeds that surround their base. As summer begins, the flowers bloom proudly, though seldom are they noticed. Bees visit the small, white blossoms of untrimmed bushes growing by the curb. Many people pass by, dropping off packages or tossing mail into the box nearby, but it’s all business; they have other things to do. It’s not a place where people slow down enough to enjoy the little bits of beauty the world…
